Amelia Nilsson
My name is Amelia Nilsson and I live in Stockholm, Sweden. I'm a computer geek in my heart and soul and my spare time is almost all about computers. I've spent half my life to explore Linux in a small environment. I've had my own web-, mail- and dns- servers at home for more than 10 years.
One operating system isn't enough for a curious person like me, therefore the latest addition to my server room at home is not only one, but two IBM AS/400. I'm still learning about IBM i and older OS/400 and I hope that one day I could combine my knowledge for Linux and UNIX with my interest for IBM PowerSystems.
I'm currently working as a UNIX/Linux Consultant at Qbranch Stockholm AB. Qbranch is a consulting- and hosting company providing services like client administration, infrastructure, systems integration, systems operations and helpdesk/support. At Qbranch I work as an in-house consultant with our customers Linux and UNIX servers.
In April 2008 I joined Data3 - a COMMON User Group. Data3 as other COMMON User Groups are a professional organization for people and organizations working with IBM AS/400 and PowerSystems. I've been writing a couple of articles about Linux for their member paper since Linux is a growing operating system on the platform. Since November 2008 I'm also a member of the board working mostly with the website to make it a digital meeting place for the members.
In May 2007 I was elected chairman in Svenska Linuxföreningen (The Linux Society of Sweden) which is a non-profit organization working with promotion of Linux and free software. I held the position for a year until the annual meeting in May 2008 when I decided it was time for me to leave the position as chairman in favor for someone that had the time to put into the work.
In February 2007 I published a textbook, Fritis - Datorkunskap A (DAA1201), for a course in basic computer knowledge at upper secondary school in Sweden. The textbook teaches basic computer knowledge, internet common sense and useful desktop applications like OpenOffice, Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird. The book is all based on free software and is licensed with GNU Free Documentation License.
